The Israelis’ prime suspects turn out to not be acting under Hamas orders. They even now admit that if Hamas leadership had ordered it, they would have known about it in advance — meaning they knew that Hamas had nothing to do with it. But they went on the violent spree throughout the West Bank anyway, and then moved to Gaza to kill 832 Palestinians, injures thousands, and displace over 150,000 (as of now).

This whole thing was a cynical ploy from start to finish to derail the unity government. They’re exterminating entire families because of their political goals.

The Israelis are the scum of the earth.

Native Americans stand with Indigenous Palestinians

you have to remember that the palestinians have been besieging israel for a very long time now with no signs of relenting. the israelis have been modernizing their people while the palestinians have been employing their fundamentalist jihad for centuries now.

it’s no secret that the death of children (palestinian or otherwise) is considered a war crime. but if the palestinians had the same capabilities as the israelis (or if the shoe were on the other foot so to speak) then the israelis would’ve been wiped out by the palestinians long ago

What is this bullshit on my picture?

Israel has only existed for 66 years. That actually isn’t a “very long” time, I have grandparents a decade older than Israel. Even though Zionist settlement in Palestine began as early as 1880, as of 1946, two years before Israel was established, Jews in Palestine amounted to only 32% of the population. Despite that fact, when Israel was created the Jewish population was awarded 56% of the land of Palestine, and a disproportionate portion of fertile land and natural resources. What has occurred since the establishment of Israel is called ethnic cleansing, and has created a situation where some 9 million Palestinians are refugees or internally displaced persons, where thousands upon thousands have been killed, and where the Palestinian people are still denied self-determination, freedom of movement, equal legal status, and other basic human rights by the Israeli government.

Israel has been able to maintain and expand its settler-colonial project (or, as you put it, “modernizing their people”) in Palestine thanks to aid from the United States government, among others. An extremely conservative estimate of US aid to Israel thus far is $123 billion, and the US currently gives Israel $3.1 billion per year, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid, free or discounted weaponry, and research agreements which spur Israel’s modernization.

And what has happen to the Palestinians? First off, this:

Palestine is an illegally occupied country, and Israel is the occupying force. Under international law, Israel- as the occupying power- has the legal and ethical obligation to protect its occupied Palestinian population, and does not have the right to declare war on territory it is occupying, nor use military force against its population, even in so-called “self-defense.” International law also affirms the right of occupied people (the Palestinians) to resist occupation- including the right to armed resistance against the occupying power.

Even if we were to brush aside the hideous racism of your assertion that “palestinians have been employing their fundamentalist jihad for centuries now,” historically your racist nonsense still wouldn’t hold any water. Prior to the establishment of Israel in 1948, Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived in relative harmony within Palestine. While there are absolutely fundamentalist groups within the Middle East generally, and even within Palestine itself (in far, far less numbers than the US media would have you believe), fundamentalism is neither the sole domain of Islam or even necessarily religious in origin and intent. Fundamentalism is a *political* issue- perpetuating right-wing ideology like nationalism, racism, xenophobia, and control over the life and choices of others by cloaking these more easily identifiable methods of hate in religious doctrine. Equating fundamentalist outliers with the whole of a population is akin to saying that every single Christian in the world is the Westboro Baptist Church.

In fact, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas is reacting to fundamentalism itself- the Zionist interpretation of Jewish fundamentalism (and to be clear, this is not representative of Jews or Judaism in the least). Zionism is a right-wing, settler-colonial, fundamentally racist ideology which necessitates ethnic cleansing to establish a state for the Jewish people, in which only Jews have full rights of citizenship and where at least 150 Jewish-only settlements currently exist on Palestinian land. A Jewish person whose family has lived in another country for centuries can move to Israel, and the moment they step off the plane they receive full citizenship rights. Meanwhile, a Palestinian whose family has always lived in Palestine is treated as a second-class citizen in Israel.

Hamas is fighting with homemade rockets which don’t have warheads or guidance systems. They fire mostly from Gaza, a 139 sq mile patch of land with a population of 1.8 million (nearly half of which is children). There is no place Hamas could fire rockets from in Gaza that is *not* densely populated, The allegations of human shields and storing weapons in schools are false and majorly misrepresented, respectively. In the two instances where weapons were found at UNRWA schools, both times the schools were abandoned- which can hardly be used as evidence that Hamas stores weapons in the occupied schools being bombed.

Israel has full military control of Gaza. Israel has plundered Palestine’s natural resources, and Israeli settlers have burned an estimated 800,000 olive trees, which Palestinian farmers depend on to live. Specifically because of Israel’s control and treatment of Palestinian land and people, the UN has stated that “Gaza will not be livable by 2020.”

    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-19391809

The people of Gaza are facing not extinction, but termination at the hands of Israel. Hamas has offered a 10 year truce provided Israel meets 10 pretty basic demands- many of which the international community has been calling for for decades now. They are:

Withdrawal of Israeli tanks from the Gaza border.

Freeing all the prisoners that were arrested after the killing of the three youths.

Lifting the siege and opening the border crossings to commerce and people.

Establishing an international seaport and airport which would be under U.N. supervision.

Increasing the permitted fishing zone to 10 kilometers.

Internationalizing the Rafah Crossing and placing it under the supervision of the U.N. and some Arab nations.

    International forces on the borders.

Easing conditions for permits to pray at the Al Aqsa Mosque.

Prohibition on Israeli interference in the reconciliation agreement.

Reestablishing an industrial zone and improvements in further economic development in the Gaza Strip.

    http://mondoweiss.net/2014/07/report-israel-conditions.html

And unlike Israel, Palestine actually has a much better record of honoring their truces.

Palestinians want basic human rights. They want to be able to live in the land that they live in. They want to be able to live. Around 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in this most recent round of Israeli aggression, thousands more have been injured without the needed medical supplies to tend their wounds, and tens of thousands have been displaced. This is not self-defense on Israel’s part, it is ethnic cleansing.

You know the world is fucked up, when some pissant says with a straight face that an occupied population is besieging their occupiers. I can’t with the world tonight.
